A Day in the Life of a Tudor Merchant

You walk along the hill past a few houses, but soon there are fields to your left and you can see the river and the harbour beyond. You can see several merchant ships moored at the Quay and about half way along you can see your vessel the Mary James.

You turn left off Maudlin Lane and walk along a track between two fields down to St Augustine's Back.

There are a few small boats on your side of the river though there aren't many people about. You see a man and woman mending some fishing nets by a rowing boat.

Do you want to
ask them if they'll take you across the river to your ship,

or do you decide to
go back along Host Street to the Frome Gate and bridge?
