“Bordeaux in France and Hannover in Germany both started their partnerships with Bristol in 1947 in the dark days following the Second World War. The twinnings were agreed in a spirit of reconciliation and friendship with the aim of building a stronger Europe and avoiding any future conflicts.” VisitWest, 9th May 2022
To mark the 75th anniversary, we brought students from St Barnabas Primary School and the University of the West of England together in a series of inter-generational sharing memories events with exchange alumni to celebrate the history of these special friendships and promote the value and benefits of learning another language and exploring different cultures.
