3 – Easton's Historic Landscape
Aim – to produce lesson plans that are;
- cross curricular
- developing literacy skills at all levels
- using Easton as a resource
- tailored to each year group
Possible activities
- Investigate evidence for Easton henge. What evidence is there for the henge?
- Indiana Jones and the Lost Henge. Storyboard for next film to be shown at Vestry Hall.
- Origin of road names. Possible new names based on modern landscape and landmarks.
- A day in the life of a colliery worker (child labourer).
- Persuasive speech to improve working conditions or founding union Ben Tillet.
- Discuss pros and cons of a union.
- Write your own newspaper report on the Easton colliery disaster.
- Past images of the colliery.
- Design adverts for colliery - consider target audience - compare with modern advert.
- Interviewing and collecting oral testimonies about the past.
