During 2010 and 2011, the Stokes Croft Local Learning project theme was Myths and Legends of Stokes Croft. Classroom workshops and the end of year heritage trail explored some of the legendary characters from the area's history. These included the Irish Giant, Mother Pugsley and the mermaid of the fair. Children in Year 6 from St Michael's Primary School created a book of fairytales based on these characters. Children in Year 4 from Sefton Park Primary School wrote and illustrated poems about a journey to St James Fair inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson's From a Ralway Carriage. MILL used parts of these poems and artwork by the children to create a jigsaw that people could collect during the Heritage Trail. Children in Year 2 from St Werburgh's Primary School produced 3D models of characters from the circus and poems about the Irish Giant. Level 1 Art and Design students from City of Bristol College produced 3D plaster traffic cones reflecting the various businesses on Stokes Croft.
